What is PPC and Can it Increase Your Sales?

PPC or pay-per-click is a form of digital marketing where the advertiser (you) would pay the publisher –in the case of this article, Google- every time an ad is clicked.

In a nutshell, PPC is one of the fastest ways of getting visits to your site as compared to earning those visits organically. And yes, it is one of the best ways to increase your sales or client base.

There are many forms of PPC but most would probably agree in saying that the most lucrative and popular option is search engine advertising (if done correctly).

With it you can bid for an ad placement in the sponsored links within the search engine. For example on Googles search engine this would be the first few ads which are clearly marked with the word “Ad” next to it. When a search is made for a particular keyword certain ads might be triggered to show up before any organic search results.

For instance, if we as the advertiser were to bid on a keyword like “office furniture” and someone searches that keyword, this will cause Google to possibly show my ad.
There are other factors involved but that would require an article of it’s own.

Now that you know what PPC is, let’s dig into why you should be investing in PPC!

1.PPC Can Produce Instant Results
You can literally start a campaign today and start seeing results tomorrow (or even today). Unlike organic search, traffic from PPC can yield results very fast unlike its counterpart, the dreaded “organic Search” (we’ll talk more about that in another post).

Regardless of how important organic search is, the fact of the matter is ROI (Return on Investment) can take a long time. The ROI with PPC is much more measurable. That brings me to my next point- measurability.

2.PPC Is Easily Measurable
Everything within PPC is easily measurable. With PPC you can set clear targets as to what you want to achieve.

If your aim is to increase your sales you may want to set your PPC campaign to drive 100 clicks to your offer as this is a very clear and measurable target. In other words you can reverse engineer the whole process to end up at the sale. For example you may start off with some impressions, then you might get a sale.

You now have an idea of how many clicks it takes to get you to your sale. You will know everything right from your spend to your profit before you’ve even paid for your campaign.

3.PPC Allows you to Target the Right People
When running a PPC campaign you can easily target people through many factors.

For example you have the option to choose the location, keywords, device, website and time & date. Doing this makes sure that only the right people see your ad. The main benefit of targeting by these channels is that you will not be wasting any of your money, or much of your money on wasted traffic.

Overall, no matter what type of business you’re in, PPC is definitely a viable option. With it you can get almost immediate results, attract only the people you want and measure your success. You can rest assured that it will absolutely increase your sales or client base.
