For several years, shifts to internet marketing have been quickly rising, and the events of 2020 have significantly expedited this tendency. Digital marketing’s impact and effectiveness have made it a vital component of every modern marketing plan. In this blog I’ll be discussing the 3 best digital marketing strategies to impliment for your Restaurant.

Why Digital Restaurant Marketing is Important

Digital restaurant marketing is probably the most important form of marketing stratagies as it allows your restaurant to connect with a large online audience and show off the facilities your business has to offer.

Connecting with clients via the internet is extremely effective because it reaches today’s consumers where they spend the majority of their time: online. Many small businesses like this sort of marketing because it can be extremely cost-effective; even the smallest marketing budget can benefit from a digital strategy.

Online marketing can also be a good way to swiftly increase website traffic, making it a good option for firms seeking for immediate results. Here’s a quick guide to three of the most popular and effective digital restaurant marketing strategies.

1. Social Media

The recent explosion of social media cannot have gone unnoticed by any modern business. While the social aspect may not indicate that users are intending or making purchases, the emergence of’social commerce’ has grown into a multi-billion dollar business.

With almost half of the world’s population spending a significant amount of their day on social media sites like Facebook, it’s likely that your clients are also using these platforms. As a result, implementing a social media marketing plan can be a powerful tool for connecting with these customers.

The visual aspect of social media perfeclty lends itself to that of a restaurant marketing plan as it allows you to show beautiful pictures of your food. Instagram and Pinterest, in particular, may be effective virtual storefronts for your food.

As social feeds become more crowded, being able to pause the scrolling motion with an eye-catching photo of your restaurant’s delectable dishes may be a terrific way to raise awareness and develop the online buzz surrounding your business, both of which can help you attract more guests.

2.PPC for Restaurant Marketing

PPC, or pay-per-click marketing, is a sort of sponsored advertising. You pay search engines to promote your business when people are looking for a certain keyword, such as “restaurant near me” or “vegan cafes in London.”

Because you can personalise your adverts to very particular search phrases, this sort of restaurant marketing can provide a very high return on investment. You don’t have to pay to promote (and be lost) in a sea of broad searches when you can rank first for your unique speciality.

These are the people that are most likely to be your perfect clients, as they are looking for exactly what you have to offer.
PPC is one of the more traditional forms of digital advertising, but it’s still going strong due to its effectiveness. It connects your company with potential clients at the optimal time, when they are actively looking for a specific solution or resource.

3.E-mail Marketing

Building a database of client information has long been a sound business practise, and email marketing is merely the modern-day version of that tried-and-true method. The major goal of this type of digital marketing is to establish and strengthen relationships with new customers, as well as to strengthen and inspire loyalty among existing or past customers.

The benefit of this form of digital marketing plan is that your company retains ownership of the consumer database, which has the potential to grow in value over time.

With inboxes bursting at the seams, the battle for customer email addresses is heating up. To effectively develop their email list, businesses must provide tantalising freebies, discounts, or other goodies in addition to merely asking for their information. However, once these are in place, adding more and more eager clients to your database becomes pretty simple.

While email marketing takes a bit longer to get going, it has the benefit of being one of the better long-term marketing tactics. Because email is unlikely to go away anytime soon, this type of customer relationship is a terrific method to attract existing consumers while also being a useful asset in the future. Email marketing is a terrific complement to other traffic-generating methods like social media and pay-per-click advertising.

Social media – the beauty and the beast of some businesses – like Marmite some love it, some hate it. Yet a social media strategy has become essential in modern business and in some cases determines how well a business will do.

Some of you may think that your social media strategy is working fine for your business and that may be the case, but social media changes quicker than Usain Bolt used to run the 100m and so it is always good to know what updates are happening and how they could help your business.

Here are 5 elements that should hopefully tickle your social media taste buds:

Add a messenger chatbot to your Facebook page.

A chatbot is a great way to keep in touch with your audience on an individual level. Messages can be personalised which you send out to people. Not only can it provide great customer service, and make it faster and easier it also allows you to stay in touch with customers 24/7. You should also think about integrating a chat function onto your respective websites – although these have to be manually manned it allows another form of communication for your customers.

Add a video cover image to your Facebook page.

The photo cover is one of the first things people see when they visit your page, so why not make it captivating with something which will grab their attention.

Use more video across all platforms – especially live video.

You’ve probably seen us on various platforms or read our various blogs – but we’ll say it again the video is one of the best forms of engagement with your audience. The majority of platforms all have a video function…and better yet they have a live video function. Try to think of ways to use this to your advantage. The video will continue to grow year on year – so why not join the fun?

Social media paid adverts.

Facebook is constantly changing its algorithm, and with Twitter and Instagram now also using their own specially-defined systems – organic posts can be lost in the abyss – this is where paid ads come into force and allow you to target the right people with the right content.

Storytelling.

Snapchat was the pioneer, then Instagram followed suit, with Facebook close behind – and you know what they won’t be the last. Millions upon millions of people use either of the mentioned ‘story’ functionalities with those oh so ever-changing filters – I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many bunny ears or Harry Potter glasses on so many people. Stories are an awesome way to reach an audience in real-time and luckily because of the format it doesn’t have to be edited at Pinewood Studios with Lucas-esque effects.
You see here’s the secret – people prefer real videos to the countless ‘fake’ videos you see everywhere. So get out there with your camera and start filming!

Sometime along the course of running your business, someone has told you that a blog on your website would be a good idea. Now I know what you are thinking, ‘No one wants to read what I have to say, but your customers and potential customers do. Blogging opens the door for you to be able to express your brand identity, introduce new and seasoned employees to your clients and establish authority in the marketplace. Below are the 5 key benefits of blogging.

1: Increases search engine traffic

Search engines love fresh content. And the best content is blog posts. By blogging consistently, you give Google, Bing and other search engines new content to index and you create opportunities to plug in those all-important keywords to increase your visibility on search engine results pages.

2: Establish the tone of voice for your brand

Carefully crafted website content (e.g., a homepage or about page) can’t hold a candle to a blog post when it comes to establishing the tone of voice for your brand. Your blog posts give you a unique opportunity to share your personality, build trust and increase your brand’s likeability.

3: Establish your business as an industry leader

No matter how small your business is, you can build trust and clout within your industry by providing valuable, expert information in your blog posts. Over time, you become a “go-to” resource for educational, inspiring and entertaining content, which can ultimately lead to higher customer conversion rates. This is especially important for small businesses looking to gain credibility to compete with larger companies

I need help blogging!!!!

4: Improves conversion rates

Having active blogs lets the new customers know you are open for business. This is one of the main reasons either in house or through an outside source, having at least a weekly blog posting to your site can increase traffic and conversions. A blog with high-quality content also helps build brand loyalty, further increasing your conversion rates. According to Hubspot, overall ROI is also more likely to increase for companies who blog; in fact, businesses who prioritize blogging experience a 13X increase in ROI, year after year.

5: Helps generate inbound links

Without a blog, it can be extremely difficult to attract authoritative links to your business website. When you add new content that serves as a resource for other bloggers and media, you start to naturally accumulate inbound links as other authors, columnists, journalists, bloggers and contributors reference and cite that content in their own articles. These links are important for SEO, but can also generate significant referral traffic back to your site.

Digital is the ‘in-thing’ at the moment in all walks of life, including marketing. So why do many businesses tend to forget the most basic part of digital – a user-friendly website. Was your website built to win awards or new customers? Was your website built user friendly to generate sales for your company? Does your website look great but not generating leads? Here are 5 simple ways to get your website working for you…

Contact Information

When someone visits your website make it easy for them to contact you whether it be by phone, in person or online (email or contact form) – why make your contact information a treasure map. If visitors can’t find this information, then they’re more likely to leave. Phone Number – Make it nice and big to read & on every page.

Contact Form

Lots of searches happen after normal business hours, making it vital that contact forms are on your website. They should also be easy to fill out. Address – it sounds pretty obvious, but this verifies to people that they are viewing a local company. It can also help establish that initial trust.

Write unique content

Content is King! As is the famous saying. This doesn’t mean going around peeling stuff off from around the interweb though. Creating unique content will build trust from your visitors and also avoid being penalised by search engines. But now you’re thinking, but I don’t have time to blog every day or what have you…but unique content can range from writing about your company in the about us section, writing about your services or products or doing a meet the team page.

Use a strong call to actions

This goes back to the first point of having your contact information ready and available to any visitors. Make it as easy as possible for potential clients to contact you by using a solid call to action – even as something as simple as ‘PRESS HERE’ can make the difference.

Integrate your tools

Make your website user-friendly – not just for your visitors but for you too. Using tools you already use on your website can make things easier for you. E.g – something as simple as an appointment calendar or a chat function feature can help conversions increase. For something a bit more complex, you can integrate your CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system to your website so when a contact form is filled out it is added automatically to your database and ready for you to use.

Using WordPress

Now you may think that designing a website is a bit like The Matrix – only ‘The One’ can do it what with all the binary code and HTML etc…but with WordPress that is all a thing of the past. It allows you to manage your content, images, videos and any other data without having to learn that pesky HTML or coding.

If you need any help with your website whether it be content, building or WordPress please do get in touch with us on the form above. Have a great day

Create an Awesome Headline

It all starts with the headline. It’s the first thing people will see. It doesn’t have to be super long you just have to make it compelling enough to get your audience to carry on reading your advert. Remember an ad is just a journey that leads people to the call to action.

Empty Space Is Fine

You don’t have to fill up space just for the sake of it. Empty space is not such a bad thing. As long as the content you have on the ad leads your prospect to take action that is the main thing. Remember people are busy, they don’t have time to read a novel. You only have a few seconds to make an impression. Make sure you grab their attention in that short window.

Images are Key

In today’s world images are everything! adverts with images tend to get a much higher engagement rate than those without. That doesn’t mean you should just go out and stick any old image on your ad. Use an image that tells a story. If you have a technical product you might want to consider annotating your product outlining some of the main features.

Tell a Story in the Copy- Don’t Leave it Blank

Your advert needs to tell a story. It’s the best way to sell your product or service (most of the time). And as mentioned earlier it doesn’t have to be long. It can literally be a few short sentences that describes the thing that you are selling. You probably wont get much space any way so you’ll have no choice but to make it short.

In this article we are doing a straight head to head between traditional marketing and modern day marketing. To keep this short and sweet, we have picked two of the best from each generation (or we would be here all day).

To kick things off let’s talk about about some modern marketing methods.

PPC

For those of you that don’t know what PPC (Pay Per Click) is, it is essentially like an auction where the highest bidder wins that particular click which will go to their website/offer.

So why is it so great?

Pros- Speed to market and is easily “traceable”

Cons- Can get very expensive. PPC can also get quite complicated which is why so many people just quit doing it.

SEO

SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is another great modern day marketing channel. SEO is the process of organically ranking your site higher in search engine There are many advantages to it but I will just list a few.

Pros- SEO can send a flood of constant visitors to your website on a daily basis. You will be seen as more trustworthy.

Cons- As mentioned earlier SEO can take a while and there is no guarantee that you will even get ranked. Remember, the search engines have the final say. You may get penalised by Google.

What Is Telemarketing?

It was called Telemarketing back in the day…but now 99.9% of people would probably call it ‘cold calling’. Historically it consisted of companies hundreds/thousands of phone calls to potential customers. Technology has aided the calls with video calls, conference calls etc being available. It can also be used to conduct surveys, questionnaire or information gathering (which political campaigners use heavily prior to elections) which some may find slightly less intrusive.

Pros – Get to speak to someone directly

Cons – they are not expecting your call and it might not be the decision maker. You also only have one chance to generally impress/interest them.

Direct Mail

Direct-mail marketing creates awareness of a product through postcards, brochures, letters and flyers sent through mail. Direct-mail marketing can be expensive as a business incurs design and printing costs as well as postage expenses to reach its target.

Pros – It’s still a classic way for Takeaways/Pizza places to get into local house in their area – still works us if we are honest. And some people in this digital age, actually like getting a tangible piece of mail instead of digitally.

Cons – A lot of people mainly throw them away as soon as they come through the mail and a lot of people have a ‘No Junk Mail’ sticker on their door too – It’s sooooo 10 years ago!

The Verdict

Overall you would have to say that they all have their pros and cons on why you should use them…even cold calling, sorry Telemarketing and it would probably come down to personal preference and budget on what would be best for your business. One of the best things to do is to talk about your business with someone like us and we could advise what strategy to use on your business.

As you may already know this week is all about marketing plans. Why you need them and how to create them. Below is a quick snapshot on how you should actually start to build one out.

Why do I need one?

Well having a marketing plan will allow you to understand what your customers really want and what they are actually willing to pay. You can also find out what it is that your customer wants and what they are willing to pay for it. Having a solid marketing plan will also present you with the tools and tactics you need to use in order to achieve your sales goals. In a nutshell your marketing plan should be like a guide that your company lives by.

Where Should I start?

You need to start by evaluating where you are now right now.

How do your customers find you?

What are your strengths and weaknesses

What are some of the Issues you might face

How?

After you’ve figured out where you are now you need to start creating your plan…

Describe your audience- You need to know key things like demographics- age, gender, earnings, location etc. How often do they purchase products/services like yours

Marketing Goals- Write down your specific goals and make them measurable. For example are you looking to increase your sales by 20%

Channels and tactics you will use. This is probably the most important part. Once you have identified your prospects and your marketing goals you need to figure out how you will reach out to your prospects and accomplish your goals. You need to figure out what is the best way to reach your audience. Is it online, offline or both. If it’s online you might want to consider using social media (twitter, FB, Linkedin etc). Do you have a website? Where will your customers find you? Do you have an SEO strategy? Will you use a paid marketing strategy to reach your audience- eg PPC, FB ads, linkedin ads etc. If it’s offline (although you might still need a website), will you be handing out leaflets, cold calling, product exhibitions, marketing events and trade shows.

Your Marketing Budget

How much will the marketing tactics outlined in the previous step cost you.

For example, if you are doing a google AdWords campaign how much do you need to spend to reach your target audience?

Will you be outsourcing the marketing to an agency or will you be employing a marketing person. How much will this cost?

Fill out your profile correctly

This is a must. Filling out your profile correctly means having a short description about what you do. A link to your website and maybe contact number. Make it short and sweet so people would be inclined to take action. You should also make sure that you have a high resolution logo and a good header image. An ugly profile may scare visitors away from your profile.

Use an Image/gif/video

It is statistically proven that tweets with images, gifs and videos have a much higher click through rate. Use videos when you can because they have the highest engagement rate out of the three. However at the bare minimum you should be using images. If you need to find royalty free images here are 40 Awesome Places to Download Free Images for Your Content Needs. Or if you need some royalty free videos here are 4 Royalty Free Video Sites. Unless you are a celebrity you need to have more than just text in your tweets.

Use Hashtags

Using hashtags is also of upmost importance. Tweeting with hashtags means that there is a greater chance that people will see that particular tweet. For example if someone searches twitter with the hashtag #cheesecake your tweet may come up in the search results if you used that particular hashtag. You should always try and use at least one hashtag in your tweets however three is ideal. One important thing to note is to never use a hashtag that has nothing to do with your tweet. Don’t use #cheescake if your tweeting about accounting software.

Employ these three things into your twitter marketing and you will be on your way to becoming a twitter rock star.

Writing an email can seem a basic task, but the receiver will appreciate the quality of a professionally written one vs an informal message. You are also likely to have a positive response from the recipient and paint a good picture of who you are. Continue to read to find out ways you can write effective electronic mail!

1. Format your response so that it’s easy to read on a screen.

Do not write emails using very long sentences, which are lengthy horizontally. Each line must be short. Ideally, write 5-6 words in each line only and not more than that.

2. Make sure the subject line is concise and meaningful to the recipient

Avoid a generic “Response from Marketing Team” but also be careful that it doesn’t look like spam.

3. Have one subject per paragraph.

Mention this separately by blank lines, so that it’s easy to read and understand.

4. Be brief.

Use as few words as possible to convey your message. More is not better when it comes to email. An email is not perceived as an electronic letter.

5. Use simple, declarative sentences.

Write for a third or fourth-grade audience, particularly if you’re creating templates that are sent automatically. You do not know the education level of your sender or the sender’s level of comfort with the English language.

6. Be sensitive to the tone of the original email.

If the sender is upset because of an error on your part, acknowledge the error. Clearly state what you are doing to correct the situation.

7. Make sure you answer all the questions posed in the original inquiry.

A partial answer frustrates the sender and results in additional contacts. It also makes the company sending the response look inept.

8. Call of action

Make it clear what actions you will be taking next and when the writer can expect the next contact from you.

9. Don’t ask for an order number/case number or any old information

This is something you remember out of your mind only when one is included in the original email…sounds pretty basic, but sometimes people miss very obvious info in an email.

10. Don’t just tell the sender to go to your website.

In many cases, they have already been to the website and couldn’t find the answers they were looking for. If you want them to go

back to the website, provide a direct link to the exact information the reader needs.

Many small businesses don’t get the success they want from advertising due to availability of very little resources. The results are simply flat due to lack of good ideas for improvements. Whether the ads are put in the local newspaper or are printed in the famous periodical or posted on a website, the money invested should gain the desired outcome. There are some common mistakes small businesses and professional service providers do when designing and posting the advertisement, which leads to the failure of the advertisement.

Bigger is better is believed by many.

That’s exactly what some of the small firms think when they want to advertise their product. They think bigger and select a medium where they need to invest a lot of money, but do not reach the targeted market. Like if a company specializes in designing diet plans and want to help out people who had disappointing results from their individual diet plans, and the company chooses to advertise a full page in the local paper instead of running advertisement in a health magazine, obviously not many of the dieters will notice the advertisement and the advertisement doesn’t get the desired attention.

So the point is to come up with the best campaign, which will increase the probability of the ad getting viewed and the right customers trying to buy the product or sign up for the service. Studies and research can be carried out on the market and targeted audience can be narrowed down. Once getting the list of newspapers, magazines and magazines meant for the customers in mind, find out how many readers they have and the cost they ask for posting the ad. Special deals are offered by them from time to time and can only be found by watchful eye.

It is estimated that everyday people are subjected to around three thousand commercials.

That is a huge number and if someone desires to be noticed, he should certainly be different. Not only the services and product sold should be unique in the market, so should be the advertisement. For example, if a business selling mattresses says, “We sell mattresses”, it will not make a statement and will be passed off as any other mattress advertisement. But if they say, “Our mattresses are of the finest quality”, it will make the advertisement stand out in the crowd. Other catch lines are “Are you suffering from back pain? Probably you must try our mattresses “, are more specific and will catch the fancy of the people who are suffering from back pains since a long time. The advertisement should also focus on the uniqueness of the product and how it is better compared to the competitors’ product.

Focusing on the problems of the customers and giving a solution for them, is what a customer demands.

A customer does not buy a product; he buys benefits in the form of a product. The real value of the product should be realised and a clear picture of it should be presented to the customer so he will be able to relate with the product. If the advertisement doesn’t specify the solution it can provide, the customers will never know of it. So focusing on the customers problem is what some ads miss.

Most of the advertisement is motivation for the customers.

If the advertiser has designed the advertisement and the customer had read the advertisement, all efforts and money invested will be wasted if he doesn’t get up and do something about it. It shouldn’t be assumed that the customer knows what to do; instead the advertisement should influence the mind of the customer and should tell him what to do. Call of action is the final job of the advertisement. It should call for information, or visiting the store or even visiting the online store. The message should sound confident and clear.
