In order to successfully market your goods and services you need to know your audience. Knowing what your customers like and dislike means you can adjust your business to suit their needs. Doing this will result in happy customers therefore increasing brand reputation.

Firstly what is a target audience? They are people who are more inclined to use your services or buy your goods. Issues can arise when you believe your audience are just like you. This means your business isn’t suited for the type of people that suit your brand.

Examples of Your Audience

Target audiences are aimed at a specific group of people. These types of people can be divided into groups such as:

Age

Gender

Career

Location

Subculture

Attitudes and opinions

Purchase intent

Hobbies and interests.

The type of people that you wish to target will depend on where your business brand fits into the hospitality industry.

Audience Analytics

The good thing about social media is that you are able to monitor analytics for your brand. You can see the type of interactions your brand is getting, and you know how your audience interact with your posts. From this you can figure out the audience to target.

See which posts are getting the most attention, from this you can get a clue of what your customers are interested in. You will need to target different audiences across each social media platform, so make sure you monitor the analytics across all platforms

There are also expansive tools to use that give you analytics. Google analytics gives you insights that are broken down into different categories, like the ones stated above. This will also show you what type of people are most interacting with your content.

Customer Feedback

Running surveys will give you an understanding of what your customers like. You can take on board their suggestions and their criticism. Knowing what your customers appreciate and what needs improved will result in them becoming a loyal customer and increasing brand awareness.

Using these tools to identify your audience will be beneficial for your business’s brand. It provides a foundation for your brand message and marketing strategy which you can use to grow.

For several years, shifts to internet marketing have been quickly rising, and the events of 2020 have significantly expedited this tendency. Digital marketing’s impact and effectiveness have made it a vital component of every modern marketing plan. In this blog I’ll be discussing the 3 best digital marketing strategies to impliment for your Restaurant.

Why Digital Restaurant Marketing is Important

Digital restaurant marketing is probably the most important form of marketing stratagies as it allows your restaurant to connect with a large online audience and show off the facilities your business has to offer.

Connecting with clients via the internet is extremely effective because it reaches today’s consumers where they spend the majority of their time: online. Many small businesses like this sort of marketing because it can be extremely cost-effective; even the smallest marketing budget can benefit from a digital strategy.

Online marketing can also be a good way to swiftly increase website traffic, making it a good option for firms seeking for immediate results. Here’s a quick guide to three of the most popular and effective digital restaurant marketing strategies.

1. Social Media

The recent explosion of social media cannot have gone unnoticed by any modern business. While the social aspect may not indicate that users are intending or making purchases, the emergence of’social commerce’ has grown into a multi-billion dollar business.

With almost half of the world’s population spending a significant amount of their day on social media sites like Facebook, it’s likely that your clients are also using these platforms. As a result, implementing a social media marketing plan can be a powerful tool for connecting with these customers.

The visual aspect of social media perfeclty lends itself to that of a restaurant marketing plan as it allows you to show beautiful pictures of your food. Instagram and Pinterest, in particular, may be effective virtual storefronts for your food.

As social feeds become more crowded, being able to pause the scrolling motion with an eye-catching photo of your restaurant’s delectable dishes may be a terrific way to raise awareness and develop the online buzz surrounding your business, both of which can help you attract more guests.

2.PPC for Restaurant Marketing

PPC, or pay-per-click marketing, is a sort of sponsored advertising. You pay search engines to promote your business when people are looking for a certain keyword, such as “restaurant near me” or “vegan cafes in London.”

Because you can personalise your adverts to very particular search phrases, this sort of restaurant marketing can provide a very high return on investment. You don’t have to pay to promote (and be lost) in a sea of broad searches when you can rank first for your unique speciality.

These are the people that are most likely to be your perfect clients, as they are looking for exactly what you have to offer.
PPC is one of the more traditional forms of digital advertising, but it’s still going strong due to its effectiveness. It connects your company with potential clients at the optimal time, when they are actively looking for a specific solution or resource.

3.E-mail Marketing

Building a database of client information has long been a sound business practise, and email marketing is merely the modern-day version of that tried-and-true method. The major goal of this type of digital marketing is to establish and strengthen relationships with new customers, as well as to strengthen and inspire loyalty among existing or past customers.

The benefit of this form of digital marketing plan is that your company retains ownership of the consumer database, which has the potential to grow in value over time.

With inboxes bursting at the seams, the battle for customer email addresses is heating up. To effectively develop their email list, businesses must provide tantalising freebies, discounts, or other goodies in addition to merely asking for their information. However, once these are in place, adding more and more eager clients to your database becomes pretty simple.

While email marketing takes a bit longer to get going, it has the benefit of being one of the better long-term marketing tactics. Because email is unlikely to go away anytime soon, this type of customer relationship is a terrific method to attract existing consumers while also being a useful asset in the future. Email marketing is a terrific complement to other traffic-generating methods like social media and pay-per-click advertising.

In this article we are doing a straight head to head between traditional marketing and modern day marketing. To keep this short and sweet, we have picked two of the best from each generation (or we would be here all day).

To kick things off let’s talk about about some modern marketing methods.

PPC

For those of you that don’t know what PPC (Pay Per Click) is, it is essentially like an auction where the highest bidder wins that particular click which will go to their website/offer.

So why is it so great?

Pros- Speed to market and is easily “traceable”

Cons- Can get very expensive. PPC can also get quite complicated which is why so many people just quit doing it.

SEO

SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is another great modern day marketing channel. SEO is the process of organically ranking your site higher in search engine There are many advantages to it but I will just list a few.

Pros- SEO can send a flood of constant visitors to your website on a daily basis. You will be seen as more trustworthy.

Cons- As mentioned earlier SEO can take a while and there is no guarantee that you will even get ranked. Remember, the search engines have the final say. You may get penalised by Google.

What Is Telemarketing?

It was called Telemarketing back in the day…but now 99.9% of people would probably call it ‘cold calling’. Historically it consisted of companies hundreds/thousands of phone calls to potential customers. Technology has aided the calls with video calls, conference calls etc being available. It can also be used to conduct surveys, questionnaire or information gathering (which political campaigners use heavily prior to elections) which some may find slightly less intrusive.

Pros – Get to speak to someone directly

Cons – they are not expecting your call and it might not be the decision maker. You also only have one chance to generally impress/interest them.

Direct Mail

Direct-mail marketing creates awareness of a product through postcards, brochures, letters and flyers sent through mail. Direct-mail marketing can be expensive as a business incurs design and printing costs as well as postage expenses to reach its target.

Pros – It’s still a classic way for Takeaways/Pizza places to get into local house in their area – still works us if we are honest. And some people in this digital age, actually like getting a tangible piece of mail instead of digitally.

Cons – A lot of people mainly throw them away as soon as they come through the mail and a lot of people have a ‘No Junk Mail’ sticker on their door too – It’s sooooo 10 years ago!

The Verdict

Overall you would have to say that they all have their pros and cons on why you should use them…even cold calling, sorry Telemarketing and it would probably come down to personal preference and budget on what would be best for your business. One of the best things to do is to talk about your business with someone like us and we could advise what strategy to use on your business.

As you may already know this week is all about marketing plans. Why you need them and how to create them. Below is a quick snapshot on how you should actually start to build one out.

Why do I need one?

Well having a marketing plan will allow you to understand what your customers really want and what they are actually willing to pay. You can also find out what it is that your customer wants and what they are willing to pay for it. Having a solid marketing plan will also present you with the tools and tactics you need to use in order to achieve your sales goals. In a nutshell your marketing plan should be like a guide that your company lives by.

Where Should I start?

You need to start by evaluating where you are now right now.

How do your customers find you?

What are your strengths and weaknesses

What are some of the Issues you might face

How?

After you’ve figured out where you are now you need to start creating your plan…

Describe your audience- You need to know key things like demographics- age, gender, earnings, location etc. How often do they purchase products/services like yours

Marketing Goals- Write down your specific goals and make them measurable. For example are you looking to increase your sales by 20%

Channels and tactics you will use. This is probably the most important part. Once you have identified your prospects and your marketing goals you need to figure out how you will reach out to your prospects and accomplish your goals. You need to figure out what is the best way to reach your audience. Is it online, offline or both. If it’s online you might want to consider using social media (twitter, FB, Linkedin etc). Do you have a website? Where will your customers find you? Do you have an SEO strategy? Will you use a paid marketing strategy to reach your audience- eg PPC, FB ads, linkedin ads etc. If it’s offline (although you might still need a website), will you be handing out leaflets, cold calling, product exhibitions, marketing events and trade shows.

Your Marketing Budget

How much will the marketing tactics outlined in the previous step cost you.

For example, if you are doing a google AdWords campaign how much do you need to spend to reach your target audience?

Will you be outsourcing the marketing to an agency or will you be employing a marketing person. How much will this cost?
